The Imaginary Garden

Have you seen this book?

It's perfect for what we teach! It teaches about creating a mural, color mixing, creativity all in a beautifully illustrated book.

These "imaginary flowers" were inspired by the garden in the book. I asked students to pretend they went to the imaginary garden and picked a bouquet of flowers for someone special. Then we painted their bouquets with tempera and when they dried added details with oil pastels.

It's one of the most developmentally appropriate book to teach mural painting to a first grade class! You'll love it. . . if you buy it you'll want it for years to come.
