For the Birds

Have you seen Portlandia? Do you need to laugh? I think Portlandia will make any artist LOL laugh out loud or at least LIS laugh inside . I am laughing at myself after seeing this episode! While drawing this summer I too became obsessed with the bird craze and sketched some birds and finally made a painting featuring a bird. . . I don't even like birds!

So tell me have you "put a bird on it" yet?

Ummm yeah it is. I love this stupid stuff and now I have nothing but TIME to watch it! If Stella's any later I might start making some ridiculous video/skits myself. Spare us Stella!

Allison if you're reading this I miss our ridiculous videos but I'm sure the poor people of Providence don't miss us at all.

Ok being from Portland and having been in the shop on Mississippi that they used for the skit I have to say I not only love Portlandia but this is one of my top four skits from the several episodes they have showed. It is a funny little skit unless you live hear and then you realize its soooooooooooooooooooooo the truth of the Portland art scene that it goes from funny to painful...in a funny way. I no joke asked my husband to find me a "Put a bird on it!" bumper sticker for my b-day this year.

First of all, I thought for sure you had gone into labor over the weekend. We're all thinking of you! This definitely cracked me up. I think it could be an add for Etsy. There are a lot of uber-cutesy pieces with birds and owls. And yes, I'm trying to incorporate them into an art project. HA! thanks for spreading the funny!

Mrs. Art Teacher: That is my fav one too! Some Portlandia's are so weird even I feel like you "had to be there" to get it. But that's like a lot of great comedy. I also like the feminist bookstore! Have you been there or is it just out of your reach:) My friend has a job where she travels to every city to sell microscopes and she says this is totally portland (the 90's thing is funny and reminds me of a town called Middletown in CT) if you're from here you know what I"m talking about?

TOTALLY an ETSY ad I couldn't put my finger on it but that's what it is! I love etsy by the way and don't mind pictures of birds as much as them flying around like maniacs and swarming me at the beach!

Looking forward to our Audubon "put a bird on it" project now.

No baby yet but it is V-Day!!! Wouldn't that be cool! My husband is a sous chef and it is a huge day in the restaurant. We try not to plan anything for ourselves on holiDAYS but I'm not sure if we told Stella that yet. The boss is coming we won't have much say in things like this!

The book store is actually called In Other Words and yes I've been there and NO they do not act that way and are very nice and friendly to both mean and women. I have even used their bathroom. However they DO sell coffee cup cozies with bikes. A lot of the skits are very, "you had to be there...live hear" for them to really be funny. But I think there are hippsters all over the country.
