The Best Dough Recipe

This Sunday I am making DOUGH!

All kinds of dough.

First I'm making some pizza dough then Play-dough for my art room (next year I'll be making it for baby Stella!) I'll post my play dough recipe with pics on another dough post.

Here is my ABSOLUTE favorite pizza dough recipe:

PIZZA DOUGH

What you'll need:
7 cups of bread flour
1 Tbs of salt
1 Tbs raw sugar
2 (1/4 ounce) packets of active dried yeast
4 Tbs of EVOO
2 1/2 cups of lukewarm water

Last week, I made healthy pizza with our GREEN TEAM. The Green Team has been working on making our school lunch healthier. Pizza is the most popular item on the menu so we started with making a more nutritious pizza. We tried veggies like eggplant, peppers, fresh tomatoes, broccoli, spinach and herbs like basil.

Kids put together their own pizza and tried some new things. They cleaned their plates and were especially impressed with the crust. "This is better than delivery!"

Lesson: First, give kids food you would eat yourself (sounds simple but it's not happening in our part of the state.) Second, get kids involved in their food (choices or preparation) and they will eat it! Even vegetables.

Here are our pizzas. The CRUST was AWESOME!

Stretching the dough.

Putting TOPPINGS on our pizza.
We cut them all up with little plastic butter knives, not easy!
If you have a safe knife idea let me know.

We all tried each other's recipes.

Yesterday I wanted to make pizza, but  I needed a quick dinner. I bought the dough in the bag at the grocery store. Booooo! It was terrible compared to this dough. I have to make this dough today just to satisfy my craving. It is that good.

Delicious! I wish I had an oven in my room!... well I have a kiln...but it unfortunately does not have a pizza setting(boo!)...but it would be cool to do a ceramic pizza!

I will definitely try this recipe soon! :)

I don't have an oven in my room either! We used the teachers room one. This is an after school program where we do all kinds of GREEN things. I bet ceramic pizzas would be a lot of fun. Ceramic food. . . haven't done that one yet!

yum! great project!i know that supermarket dough can be gross. My trick is to go to a local pizzeria and buy the dough- they charge $3.00 : ).

Just make sure you eat the right dough. I'm not sure playdough would be as tasty :)
