Easy Project You Can Do Tomorrow

I don't know about you but I am constantly looking for projects for Kindergarten. Here's an easy painting project with a fantastic result. I know what you're thinking "painting with Kindergarten easy?" Yes! I did this project with little ones of all abilities and each is totally unique despite the limited color palette.  First, discuss Van Gogh's sunflowers with higher level classes or with lower level classes identify the colors and shapes of a real or silk sunflower. Once students are inspired have them paint using yellow, a bit of red to make orange, and a big fat paintbrush. Finally, when they are done and only when they are done,  give them a small brush with a little black paint to make the seeds. This student outlined the flowers. I love the whimsical lines and abundance of flowers! Happy Spring!

Erica, thanks for the lovely comment you left on my blog. I'm so glad to have found you here and LOVE these sunflowers. I'm right with you on searching for kindergarten plans. I'm sure I will borrow this idea. If you don't mind, I'll add you to my blog roll.

I agree with Barbara! Thanks for your kind thought on my blog as well (There's a Dragon in My Art Room - http://plbrown.blogspot.com/).
I"d like to add you as well. And keep checking back, because I'm trying to do lots of posting before my student teacher leaves.
I love the idea of the simple color palette of these flowers, because paintbrush washing is always the biggest challenge with kindergarten.
