Best Substitute Art Ideas: February

The worst part of my job is preparing for a substitute.

This classic lesson is a go to substitute lesson this February. Stay healthy everyone!

Warm and Cool Hearts
✏ Draw a heart or simple shape in pencil. Tip: Smaller paper sizes work best.
✏Divide shape with 6 lines.
✏Teach warm and cool colors with the color wheel. Explain how warm colors stand out (think stop signs, fire engines) and cool colors recede.
✏Color heart with warm colors.
Color background with cool colors.

  1. I disagree: the worst part of my job is not preparing for a sub, it is coming back to my classroom after a bad sub. No matter how good your plans are, some of them just do not know how to read...
Had one this Thursday. It must have taken me 2 hours to clean up the mess, tons of supplies are gone, and my slab-roller is broken. I was not happy.

    1. AMEN! I was home for quarantining for 4 days week before last and the sub that was assigned to follow my easy, but detailed plans was a nightmare. So I'm home again as of today to quarantine, so I spent hours for a sub to come in and continue my plans. My principal just called me to tell me my plans "are too detailed"! I need to just give short art assignments each day that doesnt take any thinking from a sub..... OMG

  2. Thank you!! Since I've not had One Single Snow Day...I've been thinking I just might need a Mental Health/Sewing in my Pajamas All Day Day. Might have to put these plans to use ;) Thanks, APG :)
